#TechTipTuesday: Ultrasound Troubleshooting

October 12, 2020

by Kaylee McCaffrey, Biomedical Engineering Solutions Sales Specialist

It's #TechTipTuesday! Welcome to our weekly series where we ask members of the biomedical community about their tips and recommendations for maintaining medical equipment. This week we're asking, "What tips do you have when it comes to troubleshooting or servicing ultrasound systems?"

Ultrasound Tips from Avante's Kevin Murphy

This week, we asked Avante Ultrasound Support Specialist Kevin Murphy about his tips for troubleshooting ultrasound image quality issues. Read Kevin's tips below:

When troubleshooting image quality issues on a Ultrasound unit there are a couple of things that you always start with. These are typically the questions that we will ask when taking calls about image quality issues.

1. Does the image quality issue follow multiple probes and multiple ports? Meaning when plugging up on multiple probes and multiple ports to the unit do the same symptoms show.

2. Once you have verified that multiple probes and ports are showing the same issue then try and take of picture of the symptoms. This will give us a better idea of what could be causing the image quality issue. Allot of the times diagnostics and logs for Ultrasound systems will not show us any issues when the unit is displaying image quality issues.
