Details

TBird is a revolutionary ventilatory system designed to stay with your patient throughout the continuum of care. Employing a revolutionary turbine technology in a compact, durable and lightweight package, TBird provides uninterrupted mechanical ventilation for your critically ill patient. There is no need to change ventilators or require additional staff. No longer do you need separate ventilators for acute care, transport and step down. Just one TBird performs all of these jobs. Since one system performs so many functions, costs can be lower, equipment inventories can be reduced, training simplified and, potentially, fewer complications can occur.

Patented Turbine Technology

Unlike most ICU ventilator systems that depend on an air compressor or a piped air system, TBird VSO2-VS is self-contained. Its powerful turbine technology provides excellent gas delivery without a need for a compressed air source. This revolutionary new turbine together with an internal and optional external battery allow the system to be completely independent and mobile.

ICU Capabilities Beyond The ICU

When patients move from the ICU to an alternate care facility, referring physicians demand sophisticated modalities. The TBird VS and VS02 incorporate the powerful features of ICU ventilators. High flow capabilities can meet the needs of critically ill patients with high inspiratory demands. Tidal volume ranges, from 50 to 2,000 ml's, accommodate a wide range of patients from 10 kg to the largest adult. Pressure support ventilation and flow support can minimize patient dys-synchrony.

Comprehensive Patient Monitoring

The TBird VS and VS02 provide eight monitored parameters which include:

  • Vte: Exhaled Tidal Volume
  • VE: Exhaled Minute Volume
  • f: Total Breath Rate
  • PIP: Peak Inspiratory Pressure
  • MAP: Mean Airway Pressure
  • I:E: I:E Ratio
  • PEEP: Positive End Expiratory Pressure
  • Ti: Inspiratory Time

Patient Safety

The TBird VS and VSO2 include important safety features:

  • Apnea backup ventilation automatically activates whenever patient apnea is detected.
  • Internal battery provides emergency power during temporary power outage, or battery power during short duration transport.
  • Optional external battery provides additional power for longer transports, and facilitates patient mobility.
  • Locking mechanism prevents accidental changes to control settings.

Enhanced User Interface

TBird is designed with the user in mind. The pressure manometer bar graph displays real time pressure readings as well as high and low pressure alarm settings. Its color-coded controls and displays are easy to read and set. The central control knob provides one-button operation.

VS02 Oxygen Blending

The only difference between the TBird VS and VS02 models is the method in which oxygen is applied. On the VS model, the oxygen blending is controlled with a standard flow regulator. Oxygen is introduced to the ventilator through the 02 inlet port, allowing the ventilator to deliver oxygen from a low flow 02 source. The VS02 is equipped with an internal oxygen blender allowing pressurized oxygen to be connected directly to the unit. Two fittings are provided which allow the option of a seamless transition from one oxygen source to another.

Flexible Mounting Options

Both the TBird VS and VS02 can be mounted in a variety of ways including on a table top, stand or transport stand. Or they can simply rest on a bed, nightstand or base of a wheelchair.
