Wide Variety of Defibrillators Available at DRE

December 20, 2012

Defibrillators have evolved greatly in the past few decades, making it easier for schools, government agencies, private businesses and residences to have access to the life-saving technology. Traditional defibrillators seen in medical facilities are manually operated by professionals along with the use of EKG monitoring to decide if a patient needs shocking.

Now, with the advent of automated external defibrillators, or AEDs, non-medical professionals can operate the machine utilizing either audible or visual prompts to administer shocks to the heart.* The shock restores a rapid heart rhythm to a normal heart rhythm and reduces valuable time in life threatening situations prior to admission to a hospital.

DRE sells both manual defibrillators and AEDs. Here are some of our most popular options:

Philips Heartstart XL Biphasic Defibrillator with ECG monitoring

The Philips Heartstart XL Biphasic Defibrillator can run in AED mode or manual defibrillator mode. In AED mode, voice prompts and text messages guide BLS users through the defibrillation process, while the HeartStart XL continuously monitors and displays the patient's ECG. Upon the arrival of ACLS personnel, HeartStart XL is easily switched from AED to manual mode, allowing operators to access the unit's advanced therapeutic features such as selectable energy (from 2 to 200 Joules), non-invasive pacing (optional), SpO2 (optional) and synchronized cardioversion.

The Heartstart is equipped with a long life lithium battery that lasts approximately 4 years, does not require recharging and can be easily installed the back panel. The "Install by" date is printed on the battery for easy reference. Because HeartStart runs daily self-tests, it will prompt you to replace the battery when necessary.

Medtronic Physio-Control Lifepak 12

One of DRE’s most popular refurbished options, the Lifepak 12 is a multi-parameter defibrillator with semi-automated and manual defibrillation and multiple monitoring options for pulse oximetry, capnography, 12-lead electrocardiology and external pacing. DRE also carries the Lifepak 20, Lifepak 10, Lifepak 9 and Lifepak 500 AED.
